Laggos and Sluggos with a sense of Mumin – an absolutely wonderful chapter book for children.
It is autumn in the miniature world of the Laggos and Sluggos. The siblings Sam and Sum go to school and little Sim stays at home. Laggo rents out a room in the attic to a researcher, The Brumble.
“The Brumble, who was doing his daily measuring, struggled
up the hill. He carried his notebook in one hand, the pencil in
the other and the measuring tape in a third. The mysterious
bump down the hill grew bigger every day. Now you could
see it all the way from the gate.”
The Brumble studies a mysterious bump down the hill. Many critters learn about it. It is white and keeps growing. Does it come from space? Is it an egg? Or a balloon? The rumors are flying. But what is true and what is false?
Said about Laggos and Sluggos (2009):
“With the usual well aimed power of observation and tender characterization that the Landströms usually provide us with, comes an absolutely wonderful chapter book for children, and adults to read aloud.”
Cecilia Östlund, Opsis Kalopsis
“In a super fun way the reader is pulled into this world of tiny critters where the author allows human character traits to be represented by insects and other tiny beings. Through the events that take place - a small sluggo disappears, the laggo’s broken leg, and the party that happens despite everything – it becomes obvious that everybody is needed in order for things to work out.”
Kerstin Hagstrand-Velicu, Library Services
“Lena and Olof Landström’s chapter book gives rise to a lazy glimmer, a safe and calm tone which works well for reading aloud.”
Kerstin Hallberg, Svenska Dagbladet
