Pernilla Stalfelt both can and dares to explain the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child for the children themselves!
Nobody can like Pernilla, transform the commendable but dry paragraphs to real life. Here is a big heart that beats for all children. In the foreword she writes: “I have interpreted the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child to make it a little more clear for children what their rights may be. It is, of course, my personal interpretation, but I believe that it can be helpful to many children and adults … If more of us follow it, more children in the world can live a safe and good life, and more children will be able to feel happiness a little more often. That would
be a nice present to the whole world.”
Pernilla Stalfelt received the Klax-Award in Germany 2006. The Klax-Award has been given since 1995 to persons with a “great understanding of children’s dreams, wishes and living conditions,” persons who “are still children at heart, and who continuously engage themselves creatively for children.”
Since her debut in 1996 with Hårboken (The Hair Book) Pernilla Stalfelt’s books have gained great attention and delight, among both the public and the media. She was also nominated for the prestigious Deutscher Jungendliteraturpreis for Dödenboken (The Death Book) 2001.
Her books have been translated into 14 languages: Danish, English, Finish, French, Dutch, Japanese, Catalan, Korean, Norwegian, Polish, Spanish, Slovenian, German and Hungarian.
