Tess is studying at technical school in a class with mostly boys. One day she is badly beaten by Bea in the class. Tess is hit and gets her head kicked, and is taken unconscious to hospital. Several class mates witness the event, including the third girl in the class, Molly. The assault is reported to the police, but Molly’s father forbids her from giving evidence. He is afraid of what might happen if she tells a court what happened. The others who saw the assault don’t even dare make themselves known.
Molly is torn between obeying her parents and standing up for her mate. She is afraid. Will she dare to give evidence? And if she does, what will be the consequences?
Daring to give evidence in court is a very topical subject in Sweden today. Just over 100,000 people are summoned to court every year to give evidence in criminal cases. But the fear of threats means that more and more people don’t want to fulfil their duty as a citizen.
