Åke Edwardson was born in 1953 in the south of Sweden and lives in Gothenburg on the Swedish west coast. He has a BA in Literature and is working as a freelance journalist for various newspapers. He is also a professor at the Gothenburg University and has written two textbooks in journalism and creative writing. Between 1981 and 1982 he was working as a press officer for the UN in the Middle East and has since made many travels in this area.
In 1995 he made his debut as a crime thriller writer. Dans med en ängel/Dans With an Angel, published in 1997 is the first novel in the series featuring Chief Inspector Erik Winter. Åke Edwardson's crime novels have been highly praised by readers and critics. The critics have recognised his feeling for language and the way he places his stories in a firm social framework. Edwardson has been awarded the Swedish Academy of Crime Writers' Award three times.
The first six books featuring Chief Inspector Winter have been filmed by Swedish Television who also plan to turn the follwing four books into tv-series.
Translation rights for Åke Edwardson's crime novels have been sold to more than 20 countries.
